Pigmented plastics powder, which is homogeneous and reproducible, is produced using a soln. contg. a water-miscible solvent (mixture) and plastics soln. ground with pigment(s) in usual way. Powder is deposited from soln. by mixing with water to reduce solubility. - This powder is esp. useful for powder coating techniques. Particle size can be optimized and even highly active materials can be processed satisfactorily. - This pptn. technique eliminates several operations of usual extrusion or melt methods.
