PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a tape by recording a channel discrimination signal at a fixed position while recording on the tape alternate channels of an A/D- converted signal of bits as a horizontal or slanting bit string. CONSTITUTION:At the point in time when -5V is outputted, L/R discrimination signal 6' puts magnetic head H1 into operation through recording amplifier 17 and while the initial bit of a bit string on magnetic tape 10 is magnetized to -Bmax, respective MPX data selectors 5-1, 5-2... are changed over to the left channel. In consequence, data of the left channel drive magnetic heads H2-H12 from lines L1-L12 through respective data selectors so as to magnetize 12 bits following the intial bits to +Bmax or -Bmax. Next, since L/R discrimination signal 6' outputs +5V, head H1 magnetizes the initial bit to +Bmax similarly as mentioned above and data of the right channel are sent. Thus, the width of the magnetic tape is reduced to half the conventional width and the efficiency of utilization will improve. |
