The joint connects a beam (11) and a column (10) of a reinforced pre-cast concrete building frame. It uses an externally flush cast-on steel column sleeve (21) in the joint zone. A piece of steel 'U' section is welded to the sleeve to form a beam end support bracket. The sleeve metal is precut and cranked to form horizontal trapezoidal section grooves (42,43) in the beam to column interface (17), increasing the joint's shear capacity. The beam ends may have 'V' section grooves (50,51) to augment the effect, the joint being completed by pouring in situ concrete (65).
|
