The toe clip (15) for a bicycle pedal, particularly for a racing cycle is attached in the usual way at right angles to a strap (16) passing around the shoe of the cyclist. At this connection point, a special buckle (10) is used which enables the shoe to be released b freeing the end (16B) of the strap, this being caused by swining the shoe outwards. On the tip of the toe clip is secured an L-shaped extension arm (60) with a bush (30) on it, which acts as the fulcrum about which the bucke is swung by the moement of the shoe. The buckle which consists of two halves (10A, 10B) and a base (10C) has a rod (46) across one end, to which one end (16A) of the strap is secured and has a slot at the other end through which the free end (16B) of the strap passes, guided by rollers (40, 41). The remainder of th locking mechanism is housed inside the buckle.
|
