Low calorific value solid fuel combustion system - uses e.g. coal-dust burnt in separate chamber to transport fuel

The combustion system is for solid fuels of low calorific value, using coal dust or gaseous or liquid fuel burnt in a separate chamber to generate gas for the transport and drying of the solid fuel in the dust-preparation system. This incorporates a cyclone, into which the greater part of the gases, together with a small proportion of the solid fuel, are delivered, part of these gases and of the fuel not collected in the cyclone being delivered to the combustion chamber for coal dust. The remainder of the gases and the uncollected fuel are delivered into the top of the steam-generator firebox. The fuel collected in the cyclone is delivered by the fuel-supply chamber into the main firebox, and part of it to the chamber generating gas for drying and transport of the solid fuel.
