<p>Tapes with a hooked or looped pile fabric, are positioned in a mould for producing a foam cushion so that the fabric is integrated into the moulding with the pile exposed. The tapes thus provide anchorages for covers lined with patches of hooked pile fabric to secure the cover to the base cushion. Used esp. for fixing covers to follow concave cushion profiles, as for bucket seats for cars. The tapes on the cushion may be flush with the surface or laid over a rib on the mould to form an elongated pocket to receive hooked pile tabs pendant from the interior face of the covers. Alternatively, the looped pile tapes may be replaced with a strip of brushed jersey fabric of about 170 g/sq.m or felt, pref. of polyester or polyamide threads. The back of the anchorage tape may be sealed by a coating of polyurethane or rubber, to prevent excessive penetration of the tape by the foam precursors. Flat anchorages may be mounted in the mould by double-sided adhesive tape, to prevent contamination of the pile face by foam resins.</p> |
