The plug-in electrical switch has a sprung holding element to maintain the in-use position. One prong (2) of the plug-in contacts is connected to the switch body contact (3) and the second prong (alongside) is connected to the upper double loop type snap action spring (22,6). The holding spring (7) is a 'U'-shaped spring with base (12) parallel to the top spring (22), with a fixing (9) on one upright (8) and the third arm (10) of the 'U'for the holding spring (11). The base (12) of the 'U'is bowed and is the operate point to release the holding spring arm (11). The object is reduction of spring travel required for such snap action and locking switch movements. The switch body (1) is injection moulded.
