<p>Making expanded alkali metal borates by passing preheated air or inert gas up through an agitated bed of hydrated alkali metal borate. The air or gas may be at 100-700 degrees C. The expanded borate of low apparent density may be continuously removed from the reaction zone by the air or inert gas, while more hydrate is continuously supplied to the bed.</p> |
