PURPOSE:To make a lead powder to be more efficiently kneaded with water and thereby raise the utilization rate of the active material for the plate of a lead storage battery, by contaminating the lead powder with a pulverized powder of silicon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A lead powder is premixed with a fine silicon-dioxide powder, the mixture being added with water and kneaded. After that, the kneaded mixture is added with sulfuric acid and kneaded again to make a paste for an active material. The addition amount of the former fine silicon-dioxide powder is preferred to be, for example, 0.1-5wt%. |
