<p>The wire mesh panel is used to reinforce structural concrete. It comprises two layers of perpendicular wires (1,2) at uniform centres, and is of twisted bar with high bond characteristics. In certain edge zones (a1) a wire (2) or wires parallel to that edge are omitted, the arrangement ensuring that two such overlapped edges complement one another to obtain the ruling transverse bar (2) spacing at the lap (b). Transverse bar congestion is avoided and economy of bar effected, the treatment lending itself to one panel edge or to one or both pairs of parallel edges.</p> |
