The TV receiver which can also be used for stereo sound reproduction, uses a compander system and a circuit which can be changed over from signal compression to normal reproduction. The part of the circuit for reproduction from a second channel, has a connection to the automatic dynamic expansion section, so that in the presence of a carrier signal for the second channel, the expander is switched on. In the absence of the carrier signal again operates in the linear mode.
