The device is used for the selective application of adhesive either in lines or over a surface. The adhesive application is made through the opening of an adhesive container pref. cylindrical in shape and having a connecting device such as a thread on its outer side. The device includes a ring (3) which is superimposed on to the opening of the adhesive container. It is fitted with a spatula and it includes a stroke edge (9) on at least one of its longitudinal edges.
