Extracting power from shallow stream - uses rotor with hinged paddles providing limited circumferential movement on rotor periphery (NL 6.4.81)

The arrangement is intended for converting energy contained in the current of a shallow water course with little or no vertical drop. It comprises a rotor (2) provided with a number of paddles (3) around its outer surface. The paddles are hinged at the rotor periphery and the hinge pivots are circumferentially movable over a limited anqle whilst the paddle tips leave only little clearance (1) at the bottom of the water course. The paddle may be provided with rubber sealing strips to bridge the gaps.
