Control for automatic transmission - uses torque-time curve with sections of different slope, to avoid jerking

The control defines a torque curve for the gear's output, the curve having two or more sections of different slope. Control starts at a time defined by the point in time when the coupling laminae are applied when the gear is engaged. When the gear is disengaged, control starts at a time defined by the turbine's speed differing from the gear's output speed multiplied by the gear ratio before the beginning of the gear change. Each section of the curve has the rate of change of gear output torque constant so that a linear relationship exists between torque and time. The measured values for the throttle position and gearing output torque can be transmitted to a digital micro-computer via an a-d converter and multiplexer.
