The two supports (2,3) are set at variable spacing from each other connected together by a transverse member in the form of a cable (5) whose tension can be adjusted to take one or more people. The cable can in fact be a double cable or band whose individual cables are set horizontal side by side encased in a close-fitting sleeve. Alternatively several cables can be placed parallel a few centimetres from each other so that the width of the transverse bar can be adjusted as required. The upright side supports can be designed as ladders to allow access to the bar.
