<p>The friction brake acts on a shaft working in a housing, the shaft carrying a brake disc turning with it, and with a V-groove against which a V-section brake band acts. The disc is split, a friction face (15,16) being formed on each half (12,13). At least one half slides axially, and has an additional friction face (19,22), working against a mating stationary one (26,28) on the housing. These latter faces can each be conical, or alternatively lie in a plane at right angles to the shaft axis.</p> |
