Purificn. of gas from refuse pyrolysis plants - and recovery of liq. by=products

A process is claimed for the purificn. and oil recovery from the gas prod. of refuse pyrolysis plants. The gas is sent in sequence to: (1) an oil quench below 300 deg.C, for the removal of solids; (2) a 1st indirect cooler at a temp. above the dew point of water (e.g. 90-100 deg.C) to condense medium oil; (3) a 2nd indirect cooler, pref. at a temp. below 30 deg.C, to condense light oil, including benzene and toluene; and (4) a separator, e.g. a filter separator, for the removal of residual droplets. The gas then passes to its end use. Used for environmental protection, as well as for the value of the recovered oils. The process requires less investment capital than existing purificn. processes. It permits the recovery of residual prods. which e.g. in a packed bed would have been retained in the packing.
