PURPOSE:To prevent the sudden change of the rolling load, and to improve the accuracy of the thickness of the rolled sheet, by setting the sleeve to the roll neck at both ends using the keys in length 0.2 or less times of length of the pressure receiving zone of the bearing. CONSTITUTION:The sleeve 7, being fit into the taper neck 4 of the backup roll 3 of the rolling mill, is set to the taper neck 4 at both ends of the sleeve 7 using the keys 5. The lengths (x), (y), of these keys 5 are specified to be 0.2 or less times of the length L of the pressure receiving zone of the bearing, from the end of the taper fitting zone between the neck 4 of the roll 3 and the sleeve 7. Herby, the sudden change of the rolling load, due to the keyways during the ordinary rolling work, is prevented, so that the stable rolling work can be performed. |
