The pre-loaded double nut is for a screwed spindle with circulating balls, having two halves secured together by their mating end faces so that they cannot turn in relation to each other. The end face of one half (1') has dog teeth (6), with which a locking device (7') detachably secured to the other half (1") engages, typically a toothed plate screwed onto the outside of the latter half, and fitting in a recess (8) in it so that it cannot turn.
