<p>The equipment comprises a thrust bearing, an abutment and a core, and secures sheet metal strips, bent at right angles along their lengthwise axes, while they are welded together to form a hollow body housing nuclear fuel elements. The core is in two sliding parts, coupled together by rams, spring components and screws adjusting the ram stroke. They can have inlays of material with good heat conductivity, and in which recesses are formed to direct cooling fluid, together with a recess for gas. The design gives stress-free welding of the strips, and allows bodies of different cross-sections to be produced.</p> |
