The device is for de-leafing or cutting up of leaf and skin on root crops such as beets. The rotor, striker or cutter shaft rotates at an adjustable angle to the soil surface and along the direction of travel and plant rows. The leaf is removed to the centimetre above the root neck. Specifically the rotor shaft cuts the root neck exactly and operates at high speed transverse to the direction of travel. The cutting blades are fixed parallel to the centre axis. The skin is cut away exactly by the combination of high travel speed and cutter speed.
