Screw type air compressor - has discharge reservoir as annulus round compressor to save space and reduce weight

The compressor has a casing in which there are two meshing helical rotors. There is an air inlet at one end and an outlet at the other. The casing is surrounded by an annular discharge reservoir. The discharge port leads into one end of this. The reservoir has internal ribs from both its outer and inner walls which form baffles for the air flow through it. They cause oil drops to fall out and collect in a sump at the bottom of the reservoir. An oil separator with a filter is mounted on top of the reservoir with a port between them.
