<p>Apparatus for continuously filtering and optionally degassing molten copper and otherwise extracting impurities therefrom, comprises at least one disposable porous ceramic foam filter 15 located in a tundish through which molten copper flows from an inlet (top left) to a spout 13 leading to a continuous casting machine (not shown). Perforate pipes 14 allow an inert or reactive gas to bubble through the copper, cleaning the filters and removing impurities from the copper.
