<p>Wet- and dry crease resistant finishing of cellulose fibres and textiles is effected by treating with acrolein vapours in presence of acid catalysts. No polymerisation occurs, but the acrolein reacts directly with the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose. Compared to formaldehyde, lower temps. and shorter reaction time are involved.</p> |
