PURPOSE:To generate desired damping force even in a low speed range of a piston and to check a sudden rise of damping force by changing the opening area of a pressure chamber when a valve seat is rotated to adjust the pressure receive area of the pressure chamber for a relief valve. CONSTITUTION:When a valve seat 33 is rotated clockwise, a part of each plane portion 46 is gradually forced to enter the upper surface of each partition 50, thereby reducing the area of each plane portion 46. On the contrary, when the valve seat is rotated counter-clockwise, the area is increased. That is, the opening area of a pressure chamber 49 is changed. When a piston 22 is expanded, oil in an upper oil chamber 30 causes a leaf valve 41 to be bent downward through a notch 32, an expansion port 24, a chamber 26, an oil hole 47, and a pressure chamber 49, so that the oil flows out into a lower oil chamber 31. At the time, expansion side damping force is generated by the act ion of the relief valve 41. The characteristic of damping force depends on the pressure receive area of the relief valve 41 corresponding to the opening area of the pressure chamber 49, so that even in a low speed range of a piston, desired damping force can be obtained and a sudden rise of damping force can be checked. |
