1529771 Beta-alumina slurries FORD MOTOR CO 8 Feb 1977 [17 Feb 1976] 05154/77 Heading C1J A stabilized slurry of #-type alumina material comprises (a) a liquid phase constituent e.g. water; (b) #-type alumina powder which has been calcined and deagglomerated and mixed in the liquid phase to form a finely dispersed slurry having a concentration of said powder of 30-70 wt. per cent; and (c) a dispersing agent selected from polycarboxylic acids containing at least 3 C atoms and being capable of chelating aluminium ion and being present in an amount of at least 0À010 mole acid function per 100 g. of #-type alumina powder. Preferred dispersing agents are citric, tartaric, tartronic, malic,α,#,γ-trihydroxyglutaric acids or polyacrylic acid having an M n between 4000 and 6000. |
