The arrangement is for measurement of high direct voltage and is esp. for use in metal encapsulated sulphar hescafluoride gas insulated high voltage switching equipment. It also enables alternating voltage to be measured and is considerably smaller than open switching arrangements. This enables it to be simply and compactly built into the switch case. Two chain resistances connected in venes between high voltage and earth form a potential divider. The resistance connected to earth forms the measurement resistance. The high voltage side and/or the earth side resistance is made up of identical resistance elements each consisting of an insulating body carrying resistive material on its outer surface. Each element has a distancing projection and a narrower section with spiral grooves contg. the resistive material.
