PURPOSE:To form an image of high resolution free from background stain by charging an electrostatic recorder, attaching a photoconductive toner to the recorder, imagewise exposing the recorder, and simultaneously applying AC corona discharge. CONSTITUTION:Electrostatic recorder 8 is charged with corona charger 7, and photosensitive toner 2 is attached to recorder 8 by scattering toner 2 through sieve 9, or doing the like. Toner 2 is imagewise exposed with optical system 14, while it is subjected to AC corona discharge at the same time with AC corona charger 13. At that time, since the toner 2 layer acts as an insulating layer in the dark 17, the charge on recorder 8 does not decrease, retaining the attachment force strong. On the other hand, since the toner 2 layer in the light 18 acts as a conductor, the AC corona current reaches the recorder layer 8, releasing all the accumulated charge and all the attachment force. |
