Screw thread protection caps - made of elastomer poured between threads and a mould

Protection for joints such as threaded connections, specially the male and female threads of drill tubes, is produced by cleaning the parts to be joined and applying an anti-stick agent. A mould is attached with a clearance against the threads and the space is filled with a sealant which is poured or injected. The material is an elastomer, e.g. polyurethane. This achieves the best possible protection against the ingress of rainwater, dust or damp air, and against mechanical damage.
