<p>A shaft furnace has a casing (2) composed of heated sections (3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) assembled along the height of the furnace, each section having a tubular part (10, 11, 12, 13 and 14) with the walls oriented at an angle of 3 to 4 to the longitudinal axis of the furnace. The tubular parts (10, 11, 12, 13 and 14) are penetrating partially each other, the clear area of the lower end (16) of each tubular part (10-14) of the section (3-7) being by 20 to 25% lesser than that of the upper end (17) of the neighbouring tubular part (11) of the section (4) placed below. The upper ends of the tubular parts are provided with pockets (30) located within the clearance areas and connected to tubes (29) for leading away gases and vapors from the shaft of the furnace. </p> |
