Provision is made for personnel to cross a belt conveyor in complete safety. The belt conveyor is used in mining and may be crossed without personnel trying to crawl underneath or tread on the cover. There is a strip rod-linkage system at the sides. Pairs of frames, each made up from two frames, are fastened to the rod-linkage system, overlapping the strip cover. Horizontally aligned tread rods are located between the vertical parts of the frames. These are held so as to be displaceable upwards from their normal position, on these vertical parts. They may be interconnected by flexible elements loadable only for tension.
