The chocking arrangement for varying sia. loads carried externally on aircraft utilises the principle of pressing lugs against the load surface. These lugs (19) are at the outer ends of coaxial pistons (17) with flexibly-jointed connecting rods (12) to a transverse bolt (13) through a central plunger (10). Downward movement of this plunger compresses stack of springs (23) tending to push the pistons closer together, until the bolt passes through the spring's line of action when the assembly is locked over-centre. Hooking-on the load lifts the plunger, releasing the springs to press the lugs against its surface.
