<p>Flow forming of rotation symmetrical sheet metal objects with a rounded edge is effected by the edge of the sheet metal disc being supported by a stationary auxiliary mandrel, the diameter of which is smaller than the final diameter of the edge rounding, whilst the rounding is being formed. When the edge has been formed, the mandrel is withdrawn whilst the workpiece rotates resulting in a momentary elastic deformation of the rim. The mandrel consists of a ball attached to a handle, its function being to provide counter pressure against the tool applied from outside, which forms the rim.</p> |
