<p>The plant utilises the difference in potential energy between two sections of water at different levels. It uses a float (11) which can move vertically within a sleeve (10) having water inlet and outlet openings (14), the movement of the float coupled to a hydraulic pumping system providing the water for driving a turbine generator. Pref. the float (11) comprises an inner tube (15) with a base plate (16) partway up it from which a piston rod (18) depends, carrying the piston (19) of a water pressure pump (25), with a vertical pump cylinder resting on the bottom of the sleeve (10).</p> |
