Ironing table fan control - by light beam barrier ahead of main ironing surface

An ironing table consists of a hollow main plate and one or two hollow cantilever plates for sleeves or trousers. At least one motor driven fan supplies air for either blowing or suction through the hollow plates. A light beam barrier is arranged ahead of the main ironing surface and the fan motor is switched on when the light beam from lamp to photocell is interrupted. Depending on the impeller rotation, the fan supplies blowing or suction air. To prevent spurious operation by large pieces of clothing, a delay circuit can be inserted between light beam barrier and motor. This is an easier control than the usual long pedals and less subject to damage than tubular proximity switches.
