PURPOSE:To promote the thrombolytic activity of urokinase, by combining a urokinase-containing thrombolytic agent with a crude drug. CONSTITUTION:A urokinase-containing thrombolytic agent is administered together with the extract of one or more crude drugs selected from ''ninjin'' (root of Panax ginseng C.A. MEYER), ''suiten'', ''bochu'', ''tonin'' (stone of Prunus armeniaca LINNAEUS) and ''kyonin'' (stone of Prunus sibiricus LINNAEUS) to promote the thrombolytic activity of urokinase. The amount of the crude drug extract is 0.002- 2 grams per 1,000 unit of urokinase. The purification of urokinase is difficult, and the purified urokinase is expensive and sometimes causes safety troubles; however, the combined use of safe crude drug increases the thrombolytic activity to twofold to ten-odd times. |
