PURPOSE:To prevent transfer of boiling heat from occuring in a lamp house using an ultra-high-voltage mercury arc lamp by making the velocity of flow of cooling water high with a Venturi tube formed by the shading cylinder provided with an opening for spot light source in the slot part. CONSTITUTION:The ultra-high-voltage mercury arc lamp 3 in a lamp house 4 is cooled by the cooling water circulated by force convection in a shading cylinder 7 forming a Venturi tube. A shading plate 9 is provided in the slot part of the Venturi tube and a spot light source is obtained by a micro-opening 8. High heat spot light source light by the electric discharge of the mercury arc lamp 3 is emitted from a quartz glass window 5 by a quartz capillary tube. This Venturi tube makes the velocity of flow of cooling water highest near the shading plate 9. Hence, the occurrence of transfer of boiling heat to the shading plate 9, window 5, etc. is prevented and the lamp house becomes stable and longer in life. |
