PURPOSE:To make possible the focus detection of good accuracy by detecting the presence or not of any position deviation on the intended focal plane of the two image of a subject by the two luminous fluxes from the two imaginary pupil apertures of a taking lens. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of lens elements LA1-LA7 are disposed near the intended focal plane of a taking lens LS and respectively plural pairs of photodetectors SAn1, SBn1, SAn2, SBn2 (n=1-7) are corresponded to the respective lens elements. According to the specifications of the taking lens LS to be mounted to the camera body, respectively one piece of photodetector pair are automatically selected from these photodetector pairs and the presence or not of any position deviation on the intended focal plane FC of the two images of the subject by the two luminous fluxes from the two optical-axis-symmetrical imaginary pupil apertures PE1, PE2 of the taking lens LS is detected by making use of the outputs of the selected photodetector pair, whereby the focusing or out-of-focusing of the taking lens LS is detected. |
