Torsion pendulum for studying physical and mechanical characteristics of samples of materials

This pendulum is composed of a device for fastening the lower end of a sample to be tested, and of a device (6) for suspending the upper end of this sample. This suspension device comprises a balancing system (11), an upper clamp and a spring-blade coupling (9) allowing torsional movement around the longitudinal axis of the sample. The pendulum further comprises excitation means (8) causing an angular to-and-fro movement of the upper end of the sample around its longitudinal axis. It is more particularly used for studying the internal friction of materials, and the variations in the modulus of elasticity of the materials. <IMAGE>
