<p>One lever has a mobile slide at its top end held under tension by a spring, and the slide has fixed to it one end of the chain. The chain passes round the free wheel pinion, the mobile pulley and the static pulley fixed to the rear frame so that slight movement of the lever alters the effective chain length considerably. The system is doubled on both sides of the bicycle for each pedal crank and a horizontal pulley tensions the recall cables on which the cables fixed to the two chains are turned.</p> |
