The insulated flange box consists of two groups of split collars (12,13) formed from a rigid insulating material. Each group of two collars is assembled on the pipeline (2) either side of the flanges (5) or other fitting, with the diametrical joints at right angles, the two collars being screwed together. The smaller outer collar (12) serves to support the sheet metal cladding (4) of the insulation (3) covering the pipeline. After assembly the void between the two sets of collars is packed with insulating material and the flexible sheet metal cover (15) is fitted and clamped in place with the toggle fasteners. Due to the use of insulating material for the split collars no thermal bridge exists between the pipeline and the outer cladding. The design may be varied to accommodate all forms of valves and fittings.
|
