Disc brake pad wear indicator - has conductor completing alarm circuit through disc upon wear of covering insulation

The disc (6) is positioned between two friction pads with linings (4,4a) on metallic support plates (5,5a). Each support plate carries a wear indicator (8) of electrically insulating material contg. a buried flat conductor (9) terminated in a connection tag (10) for wiring into the alarm circuit. Each indicator (8) features a hole through which the brake assembly pin (7) passes, and a clamp (12) fitting over the top of the support plate. The other end of the indicator is pref. V-shaped to fit into a notch in the top of the brake lining (4,4a).. The need to pierce the pad and to secure a wire into it by adhesive is eliminated. The support plate need not be modified essentially nor weakened by piercing.
