The safety belt for a vehicle seat (14) includes at least one belt part (10,12) which is inflatable and to this is fixed a spiral spring, thin and flat. This keeps the belt part normally rolled up and it unrolls when inflated. A fluid filled pocket (52) joined to the belt inflates it. The weight of a passenger displaces fluid from the pocket to inflate the belt. The belt is fitted near the seat so that, when inflated, it goes around part of the passenger torso. The pocket is placed directly under the passenger seat (14).
|
