Tool for separating conductors on substrate - has capacitor which is discharged via two electrodes to melt conductor

The tool has two electrodes brought into contact with the conductor being separated. The electrodes are positioned one on each side of the point of separation. A voltage is applied to the electrodes and a current passes locally through the conductor thereby evaporating the metal and producing the required break. The current is obtained by discharging a capacitor. The electrodes are held by a support that can move down towards the conductor or rotate so that the electrodes come into contact with it. The substrate is mounted on an X-Y table and can be positioned in a horizontal plane beneath the descending electrodes.
