<p>1-Hydroxy-2-methyl-2-propylammonium 2-(p-isobutylphenyl)propionate of formula (I) is new. (I) can be prepd. by reacting ibuprofen with an equimolar amt. of 2-amino-2- methyl-1-propanol (II). The reaction can be effected in a polar solvent, with (I) being isolated by evapn. or addn. of a non-solvent, or in a nonpolar solvent (esp. a 5-7C alkane) with direct pptn. of (I). (I) has comparable antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity to the free acid (ibuprofen) but has lower toxicity and lower ulcerogenic activity.</p> |
