<p>The articles consist e.g. of plates, plaques, vases goblets etc., and are made starting from a stainless steel blank (1) of conventional thickness, and a second blank (2) made of Ag or an alloy with a high Ag content. Blank (2) is cut to the same shape as blank (1), and is bonded to the latter by any means to make a composite metal blank (1,2) which is shaped by cutting or deep drawing to form the article required. Blank (2) is pref. a foil with a thickness of a few microns, and is esp. an alloy contg. a material preventing the oxidn. of the silver. The two blanks (1,2) are pref. bonded together by brazing, soldering, welding, rolling, or a resin ahdesive. The silver (2) is pref. covered by a protective polymer film before shaping the composite. The amt. of silver required is reduced, thus reducing the cost of the articles.</p> |
