<p>The handler automatically exchanges tools (0) between a turntable (2) magazine and a vertical overhead machine- tool spindle, using two radial extendable arms (E,F). These extend from the rotatable turret head (C) of an elevator column (D). The arms (E,F) can extend or contract in the axial sense, terminating in a pincer (PP) by which individual tools (0) are picked up and deposited. The table is also mounted on a column (B), and controls permit its incremental rotation co-ordinated with arm (E,F) and pincer movements. A disc (8) beneath the table may have radial edge notches for the support of a tool (0) beneath the morse cone shoulder, also locating slidable columns (11) for vertically retractable push-rod actuated tool caps (10).</p> |
