Method of printing cheques - using preprinted stock with alphanumeric data moving along suction conveyor

Data is printed in alpha-numeric form onto cheque stock is a preliminary printing operation. Thereafter each cheque is advanced in a direction perpendicular to its length towards a print position under a transverse line or print wheels (7) carrying machine-readable characters. The wheels are adjusted in accordance with the characters required for a code line to be printed on the cheque. Each cheque is stopped at the print position and the code line is printed in the machine-readable characters. Pref. they are carried in register on a suction conveyor (5).
