Title compd(I), useful as pharmaceutic intermediate was prepd. by oxygen oxidn. of 2-picoline(II) in the presence of mixed catalyst which was composed of 5-20wt.% V2O5 and 15wt.%. Thus, 3 g II in 60 CC H2O was dropped into reaction column which was compacted of silicagel (13) and catalyst (14), and was reacted with O2 at 375≦̸C. The reactant I, volatile compd. and acidic impurity were recieved with ice salt bath(17), pure water filled container(18) and 5% NaOH filled container(19), resp.
