The gear pump comprises a two-part housing with inlet (54) and outlet (44) and the drive shaft (22) carried in one housing half (14). A pinion (78) keyed on the shaft meshes with an eccentric internal-gear ring (76). Together with a crescent-shaped element between the gears, this is carried in a separate insert (56,72) releasably held in the housing. The insert completely encloses the gears and the element and has an inlet port and an outlet (92,94). It has a through-bore containing bearing brushes (70) for the shaft to either side of the gears. The insert may be located in the housing by a pin (108) in corresponding bores.
